A Royal Baby, Amanda Bynes Goes to Jail...Lots to Discuss!

Hi All! I apologize for my absence.  I had a bout with pneumonia and a hospital stay but i'm back and better than ever.  A lot has happened in the world!

Royal Baby Arrives:

On Monday July 22 Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge and her husband Prince William, welcomed a baby boy to the Royal family. The baby weighed in at 8lbs 6oz. Prince William was present for the birth.  All eyes were on the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's hospital waiting for the new family to emerge on Tuesday. Finally they emerged graceful and beaming with their new bundle of joy! Now it is off to Kensington Palace while we all await a name for the new air to the throne!

Amanda Bynes Hospitalized:

Amanda Bynes Before & After
I find this story so sad! Former child star Amanda Bynes has been on a shame spiral lately.  Crazy twitter rants and racy pictures as well as a run in with the law in New York where she allegedly threw a bong out a window.  Now Amanda has taken her crazy out west! On Monday July 22 she was arrested and hospitalized in Thousand Oaks California. She placed on what is called a 5150 hold, which means she was  taken into custody for her own safety under California's Welfare and Institutions Code.  Usually these holds only last 72hours although it has been reported that authorities may seek to have Amanda's extended for two weeks!

Deputies responded to a home in the 200 block of Avenida De Los Arboles about 8:46 p.m.
"There was a call about a small fire that she'd apparently set in front of the residence, kind of out on a sidewalk on the concrete," said Sgt. Eric Buschow. "It wasn't an attempt to burn down the house or anything." Buschow said the fire did not damage the property.

Patriots Coach Bill Belichick's First Press Conference since Aaron Hernandez Arrest:

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick will address the media for the first time since Aaron Hernandez was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder.  Hernandez is also being looked at in connection with two other unsolved murders in Boston in 2012.  The Patriots let Hernandez go very shortly after his arrest in connection with the murder of Odin Lloyd, which was almost a month ago.  Belichick has not been heard from but with training camp starting in just two days a press conference has to happen.  The questions will be asked but the speculation on how or if he will answer them remains! The press conference is schedule for 1:45pm, est., today (Wednesday July 24).

NFL (National Felon League)

On Wednesday June 26, 2013 Aaron Hernandez became the latest in a long line of NFL arrests this off season. Since the Super Bowl there has been (27) NFL players arrested for various offenses. Yes you read that right, 27! Those numbers are staggering. My thought is doesn't anyone have "control" over these teams or more specifically, the players?

The Patriots tried to take "control" back in 2001. That is when we were introduced to the "Patriot Way." At Super Bowl 36 the patriots were introduced as a team instead of as individuals. They were to be perceived as one force, an all for one and one for all type of mentality. …thus the "Patriot Way" was born. If a player wears a Patriots Jersey then they were to represent for not only themselves but the entire organization. "If you're going to be a part of this organization, there's a responsibility and a sense of obligation that comes with it, because in my family's mind, you're carrying our last name as well,'' Jonathan Kraft said after the Patriots signed Albert Haynesworth in 2011. "We just want [them] to understand what it means to be a Patriot and that there are certain things that are as important to us, and in some cases, more important to us, than winning.'' However, that hasn't exactly stuck, or did it ever really exists.

The "Patriot Way" seems more like an urban legend. I mean these guys may be one team but they are definitely not living there lives to represent anyone! The arrests records range from DUI to first degree murder!

It seems to me that the NFL, which should stand for Nation Football League not National Felon League, should enforce a no tolerance code of conduct. Any amount of trouble and the player is kicked out of the NFL period! I feel like these players feel like they are above the laws and punishment. It is only getting worse so the NFL should step in and do something as a league! Maybe if they realized their actions have consequences then they wouldn't be so quick to get in trouble!

Below is a list of the 27 active NFL players who have been arrested so far. The list was complied of information found on both Pro Football Talk and the San Diego Union Tribune:
  1. Michael Boley, New York Giants (Feb. 8): Arrested for child abuse in Alabama.

What a Week We're Having

This has been a jam packed news weeks! We have seen it all this week. Here is a run down of some of the top news headlines (in no particular order).

Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA):  This week DOMA was ruled unconstitutional by the US Supreme Court.  DOMA was a law barring the federal government from recognizing same-sex marriage as legal.  Basically it stopped same-sex married couples from receiving the same legal rights and benefits as opposite sex couples.  DOMA was first signed in 1996 by President Bill Clinton.  On Wednesday The U. S. Supreme Court ruled in a 5-4 vote that DOMA is unconstitutional.

Paula Dean:  Celebrity Chef Paula Deen came under fire after admitting to using racial slurs.  After the admission people were outraged.  Ms. Deen took to the internet for some damage control.  She posted two videos apologizing to her fans.  As it turns out the videos really didn’t do much.  Shortly after posting those videos on YouTube Food Network announced they will not be renewing Paula Deen’s contract.  Shortly after that her sponsors started dropping like flies! She was released by Smithfield Foods, Target, Home Depot and Walmart….just to name a few.  In a last ditch effort she went on the Today show to plead for forgiveness.  Watch the interview below:

Aaron Hernandez: Former tight end for the New England Patriots was arrested and charged with first degree murder. Odin Lloyed, was found dead less than a mile from Hernandez’s home. After more than a week of police searching his home Hernandez was taken into custod and charged with first degree murder along with five gun related charges. On Thursday June 27 he went for his bail hearing; he was denied bail.  Thursday evening police were back at the Hernandez home search for evidence connected to a different murder investigation.  Aaron Hernandez is now a person of interest in an unsolved double murder in Boston last July.

Boston Marathon Bombing Suspect Dzokhar Tsarnaev Indicted:  Accused Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzohar Tsanaev was formerly indicted.  Thursday night the 31 page indictment was released.  Dzokhar and his brother Tamerlan are the people thought to be responsible for setting off the bombs at the finish line of The Boston Marathon.  Three people were killed and many more injured.  While running from the police they killed an MIT police officer.  Tamerlan was also killed in a shootout while they were trying to flee police.  Dzokhar is in prison.  The indictment details the charges citing that Dzokhar is punishable by death penalty.

Aaron Hernandez - Charged with Murder

Ex- New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez was arrested just before nine Wednesday morning.  He was led out of his home by two detectives and taken to the North Attleborough police station where he was booked.  All of this stemming from his alleged involvement in a homicide investigation (check it out more details here).

Shortly after his arrest he was released by the New England Patriots.  The Patriots released a statement saying, "A young man was murdered last week and we extend our sympathies to the family and friends who mourn his loss. Words cannot express the disappointment we feel knowing that one of our players was arrested as a result of this investigation. We realize that law enforcement investigations into this matter are ongoing. We support their efforts and respect the process. At this time, we believe this transaction is simply the right thing to do."

Hernandez was arraigned at 2:40pm and charged with Murder and five gun related charges. He is being held without bail.

Aaron Hernandez- Cuffed and Stuffed!

After more than a week of speculation fueled by search warrants and clandestine meetings with famous attorney's.  Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was handcuffed and led from his home by two police officers this morning.

A little over a week ago Hernandez's name popped up in the middle of a homicide investigation in North Attlebrough.  Odin Lloyd, a friend of Hernandez was found dead less than a mile from Hernandez's home in an industrial park.  Since then police have searched his home several times and speculation has been swirling about his envolvment.

ABC news is reporting that an arrest warrant for Hernandez was prepared last week after investigators learned that he destroyed his cell phone and home security system. Yesterday a judge sealed all the court documents related to this case.  Later today we will find out his offical charges.

UPDATE:  The New England Patriots announced via Twitter that they have release Aaron Hernandez.

Aaron Hernandez...That's All I Have to Say About That

New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is in the center of a murder investigation in North Attleborough. Monday a  young jogger found a body in an industrial yard a short distance from Hernandez's home.  That body discovery brought a slew of state and local authorities to Hernandez's home where they searched well into the evening.  A few men at the home were all brought in for questioning.

Hernandez has not been named a suspect and police refuse to comment on the status of the investigation.  However, this has brought up a not so skeleton free past and it has people wondering about our star tight end.  Apparently back in February Alexander S. Bradley filed a civil suite against Hernandez after he was shot and lost an eye after an alleged accidental shooting by Hernandez.  The case was dropped due to alleged in accuracies however it is due to be re-filed in a Florida court later this week.

Aaron Hernandez was a fourth round pick for the Pats back in 2010.  He should have gone in the first or second round but his marijuana use caused him to fail drug tests while playing at University of Florida.  Some say this shame spiral started after the sudden death of his father in 2006 when he was only a junior in high school.

On the field Hernandez has been a star with a combined 175 catches, 1,956 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns in his first three professional seasons.  2011 was a breakout year for him with with 79 catches for 910 yards and seven touchdowns.

Lets hope that Aaron Hernandez is not turning into the Amanda Bynes of football! However, one scandal after another...lets just say it doesn't look good for Aaron. I'm sure in the coming weeks we will find out that he is back smoking marijuana too, as drug use and scandal seems to go hand in hand...right Amanda?

Does Coach Billichick know something we don't? Did he see the scandal in Hernandez's future and maybe that's why he brought Tebow here...tight end potential perhaps?? Well it is my prediction that Tebow will be a tight end and that's all I have to say about that!
